Believer’s Baptism
At CHFBC water baptism could be described in the following ways:
1) A Perennial event because year after year, as a church, we regularly baptize candidates in fulfillment of our God-given commission (Matthew 28:19);
2) A Personal decision because, as a candidate, you want to please the Lord and no one else. It is a sheer act of individual obedience as a follower of Jesus Christ;
3) A Public Stand because you openly show your allegiance to Christ. Actions can speak louder than words and getting baptized is saying, “I stand with Jesus; I belong to him, and submit my life to him”;
4) A Profession of faith because your baptism is a outward expression of your inner repentant “yes” to the gospel confirming your assurance of God’s salvation.
5) A Picturesque testimony because your baptism is rich with symbolism including the washing away of your sins and your spiritual union with Christ in his death and resurrection.
For more information or age-appropriate material on baptism to help you understand the Bible’s teaching please talk to one of our Elders/Pastors.
If you have not been baptized since you became a Christian and would like to be, or if you have questions as to why you should be baptized, please speak to one of our Pastors/Elders.
