Sometimes they’re called Small Groups, or Cell Groups, or Life Groups – we call them Growth Groups to signify that spiritual development is designed to take place in community.
Life is better together. Just ask your triune God. Just ask Jesus who called his 12 disciples together. Check out the 50+ “one another” verses in the New Testament. Or take a peak at the snapshot of the early church found in Acts 2:42. It may require a break from the status quo or a significant change in your scheduling. It does require an investment of almost 2% of your time each week.
You may find it inconvenient or risky at first, but I wouldn’t encourage you to attend one or start one if I didn’t believe that Bible-centered, Spirit-led, face-to-face, interpersonal Growth Grouping wasn’t indispensable to the life-giving maturity of our church. A big thanks to those who are facilitating and hosting our Growth Groups.
Blessings, Pastor Bill
