Believer’s Baptism
At CHFBC water baptism could be described in the following ways:
1) A Perennial event because year after year, as a church, we regularly baptize candidates in fulfillment of our God-given commission (Matthew 28:19);
2) A Personal decision because, as a candidate, you want to please the Lord and no one else. It is a sheer act of individual obedience as a follower of Jesus Christ;
3) A Public Stand because you openly show your allegiance to Christ. Actions can speak louder than words and getting baptized is saying, “I stand with Jesus; I belong to him, and submit my life to him”;
4) A Profession of faith because your baptism is a outward expression of your inner repentant “yes” to the gospel confirming your assurance of God’s salvation.
5) A Picturesque testimony because your baptism is rich with symbolism including the washing away of your sins and your spiritual union with Christ in his death and resurrection.
6) A Participatory act because baptism is more than a symbol alone – for in baptism God graciously draws us into the lived reality of union with Christ and welcomes us into the fellowship of His people.
