CALEDON HILLS FELLOWSHIP

Sunday School

Sunday Mornings

At CHFBC we want to see the Sunday school program not only teach the kids to know and be known by God but, as part of that, to learn what it means to be part of the Body of Christ. One of the ways we hope to instill this is by having them be part of the worship service every Sunday as well as part of the whole service once a month for Communion Sundays. As they grow, we hope they will transition smoothly into “big church” with everyone else.

The Sunday school program consists of two classes – Babes and Tots (newborns to kindergarten) and Senior Kids (Grade 1-6). Both classes are dismissed after the worship around 11:00, the Babes and Tots on the main floor and the Senior kids downstairs.

On Communion Sundays (the first Sunday of every month) we don’t have Sunday school classes and welcome the children to join us in the service. However, the Nursery room remains open and available for parents to use with their children. Our main request if you take advantage of the Nursery room and toys is that you leave it tidy when you’re done.

Curriculum

We are currently using the Praise Factory Curriculum. The mission of Praise Factory (which is in association with 9Marks) is to encourage Church-shaped children’s ministry and to provide free, church-shaped curriculum. The curriculum seeks to teach children Bible truths through age-appropriate lessons and repetition. Three lessons are spent on each truth – an Old Testament, New Testament and Story of the Saints – to help the children really learn the truth.

In addition to our curriculum, our teachers spend time in prayer and worship with the children, teaching them how to pray and some of the songs we sing in “big church”.

To find out more about the curriculum, you can access an FAQ page on their website or visit their home page.

You can also read more about our vision for Children’s Ministry.

If you have any questions, you can ask our Sunday school superintendent, Krista Walcott, at chfbcsuperintendent@gmail.com.

NOTE: For safety reasons, children are not released from their classes until they are physically retrieved by a parent or recognized and parent-authorized adult. We do request that parents “pick-up” their children promptly from Sunday School so that the teachers can join us in our after service time of fellowship and that parents supervise their children during the fellowship time.
